Guardianship Petition Format
A Guardianship Petition is a legal document filed before the Guardian Court seeking appointment of a guardian for a minor child or seeking authority over a minor's person, property, education, travel, financial affairs, or other important matters.
Guardianship petitions are commonly filed when parents are deceased, separated, living abroad, or when a minor owns property that requires legal management and protection.
The Court's primary concern in every guardianship matter is the welfare and best interests of the minor.

Grounds For Appointment Of Guardian
10. That the petitioner is entitled to appointment as guardian because:

e. Appointment will protect the interests of the minor.

12. That this Honourable Court has jurisdiction because the minor resides within the territorial jurisdiction of this Court and/or the property of the minor is situated within its jurisdiction.
Prayer Clause

In view of the above facts and circumstances, it is respectfully prayed that this Honourable Court may kindly:
a. Appoint the petitioner as guardian of the minor child.
b. Grant authority regarding the welfare and upbringing of the minor.
c. Grant authority to manage the property/assets of the minor, where applicable.
d. Grant any other relief deemed just and proper.
e. Award costs of the proceedings.
